Prof. Paul Schneider - an internationally known sculptor- has been living in our village since 1978 when he chose Bietzen as a place of artistic inspiration. As part of the German-French project "stones at the border" 12 of his abstract sculptures were placed on the hill Bietzerberg as symbols of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
